Principal - Katie Fehlker

Katie Fehlker is honored to serve as the principal of Red Rock Elementary, a community she has proudly called home since joining Bastrop ISD in 2018. Over the past several years, she has had the privilege of serving Red Rock as an instructional coach, assistant principal, and now principal. Throughout each role, her commitment has remained the same; to ensure every Roadrunner experiences high levels of learning, meaningful relationships, and opportunities that inspire them to dream beyond what they ever imagined.
Under her leadership, Red Rock has continued to expand innovative learning experiences that prepare students for the future. Katie is especially proud to have developed the Red Rock Interplanetary Space Exploration (RISE) Program, providing students with authentic STEM experiences and opportunities that are rarely found at the elementary level. She believes every child deserves access to experiences that build curiosity, confidence, leadership, and a lifelong love of learning.
Originally from Antioch, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, Katie began her educational career in 2005. Throughout her career, she has served students across California and Texas, teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects. Her classroom experience includes fifth-grade math, science, and social studies in Alief ISD; fifth-grade math, science, and writing in Katy ISD; first grade and a PK Academy in California's Pittsburg Unified School District and Antioch community; and seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics in Smithville ISD. These diverse experiences have shaped her belief that every student can achieve at high levels when surrounded by exceptional teaching, high expectations, and unwavering support.
Katie earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Utah State University and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas.
Katie and her husband, James, are proud to have their daughter attend BISD schools, and was once a proud Roadrunner herself. Katie considers it one of the greatest privileges of her career to partner with Red Rock families and staff in creating a school where every child is known, challenged, loved, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
"Serving the Red Rock community has been one of the greatest privileges of my career, and I remain committed to ensuring every Roadrunner leaves our campus believing there is no limit to what they can achieve."
Katie Fehlker, M.Ed.
