The Red Rock Interplanetary Space Exploration (R.I.S.E.) Program is an innovative fifth-grade leadership and aerospace initiative made possible through the generous support of the Bastrop Education Foundation (BEF). Since its launch, BEF funding has allowed Red Rock Elementary to provide students with authentic aerospace and STEAM experiences that inspire curiosity, innovation, and future-ready thinking.

Through R.I.S.E., students engage in hands-on engineering challenges, problem-solving simulations, collaborative team missions, and leadership opportunities modeled after real-world space exploration. Working in specialized mission teams, students develop critical skills in communication, collaboration, perseverance, and strategic thinking while applying science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) concepts in meaningful ways.

The program culminates in an immersive Mission to Mars simulation and includes opportunities to connect with aerospace professionals and experience NASA firsthand. More importantly, R.I.S.E. encourages students to think beyond elementary school by expanding their vision for what is possible in middle school, high school, college, and future careers. Our goal is to empower every participant with the confidence, leadership skills, and problem-solving mindset needed to thrive in an ever-changing world while inspiring the next generation of innovators, explorers, and leaders.
