BISD Child Development Center Earns Highest Designation

(Bastrop)—The Child Development Center at Cedar Creek Elementary has earned a 4-star designation by the Texas Rising Star program. The rating is the highest awarded by Texas Rising Star, which is a program of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The Cedar Creek facility joins the Child Development Center at Emile Elementary, which had previously earned its 4-star designation.

BMS Theater on a Global Stage

(Bastrop)--Bastrop Middle School theater students will make history when they perform We Will Rock You The Musical at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Performing Arts Center. This will mark the first time a middle school has performed the musical on any stage in the world since it typically is performed by high school students and young adults. A total of 75 students are involved in the historic production, which opens Friday.

Bastrop ISD will be closed for Winter Break beginning December 19, 2016. Students return to class on Wednesday January 4, 2017. Congratulations to 212° and IT Award Winners!

Of the numerous nominations we received for the 212° Award and the Innovation in Teaching! Award, eight recipients were chosen. Mr. Murray surprised these staff recently (see Featured Video). The 212° recipients were Chris Kelly, Linda Olivarez, Melissa Rathmann, and Anita Wicke. The IT! recipients were Mandy Edwards, Sunday Thompson, Natalia Wessels, and Silvia Whitaker.
